Damar Security Systems has been providing life safety and security in Southwestern Ontario, and across Canada for over 50 years, and during that time we have seen many things change – new technology, new software, and new ways of communicating with our clients.
Damar Security Systems owns & operates two redundant monitoring centers – one located in Sarnia Ontario, and the other in Belleville Ontario. Both of our monitoring centers are listed by Underwriters’ Laboratories of Canada (ULC Canada) for the provision of monitoring services in accordance with a national standard, and are also designated 5-Diamond by The Monitoring Association (TMA), demonstrating our commitment to the highest level of service.
Out of our two monitoring centers, we make hundreds of thousands of calls every year to dispatch responding authorities and to clients to let them know we have received an alarm condition, trouble condition, or supervisory condition from their security or life safety system. Damar Security Systems, as well as other industry colleagues, have noticed a significant number of calls made to end-users are going unanswered.
People simply do not want to speak on the phone and would rather let calls go off to voice mail.
This trend is resulting in 75-80% of all calls made outbound from monitoring centers to end-users going unanswered. This not only delays the notification of important events to customers, it also consumes a significant amount of operator time when there are multiple numbers to be called. Consider that for each contact number called, it could take 30-seconds on average before an operator reaches voicemail.
To respond to this trend, and to adapt to the ways people want to be communicated with, Damar Security Systems has implemented new technology that allows us to automatically send out notifications via SMS/Text Message or by E-Mail. It is important to note that we will NOT stop calling for high-priority signals, or in cases where clients request us to make telephone calls.
