Depending on your system, you may need to enter a valid arm/disarm code and press the Off button to silence the alert tone. Other systems may require that you enter a valid cade twice to silence the alert tone. You may research the problem by reading your system’s user manual. In most cases this is an indication that some type of service will be needed.
